‘Playing at gunpoint’

From 08/03/2024 to 30/03/2024

‘Playing at gunpoint’

The situation is delicate: it’s global, local and fractal. Living is therefore being held “at gunpoint” by a large multitude of signs and questions. Yet there’s a crisis of attention: so many things distract us, disperse us, lead us away from what really deserves our full attention. But it’s not just the war for attention. There’s also the magic, the miracle of attention. Paying attention builds muscle, just as the imagination builds muscle. To be attentive is not to take control, but rather to put ourselves in a posture, a particular availability, conducive to the kind of listening that allows us to bounce back when a game or a good joke comes along, to outbid one another. Or, on the other hand, to be touched and moved by the game that’s being played. The question is: how is it played? How is it played well? What’s worth playing for?
