Memory of emptiness
Memory of emptiness
In residence since the end of August, Léo Baron presents a work created by means of a gardening rake. This tool allows him, for a moment, to replace the flexibility of the brush, containing its malleable ink reserve, by the rigidity of the rake’s hooks.
This radical change implies a completely different approach to the support and the materials necessary for the work of incision.
Léo Baron performs standing up in the strength of age, and inscribes a path, a constellation of signs-writings in the depth of the acrylic substances and of oil.
This language, activating emptiness by the fullness of a uniformly colored mass, he had already, at the end of the 1990s, inaugurated and presented in Tokyo in 1995 and 2001.
Today, Léo Baron uses the same sharp tool to follow up on his tireless questioning.
